The Project

As part of our wider Turn the Page project and following on from the success of our previous Summer School, we returned to The McManus: Dundee’s Art Gallery & Museum in April 2025 for McManus Connections: Turn the Page, a comics school for 8-13s. A new group of young people took over the Creative Learning Studio for a week, and learned all about the comics-making process! There was daily drawing in the galleries for inspiration, lots of reading comics from our very own comics library, timed drawing challenges, character development and worldbuilding, and everyone developed their own comics, characters, and illustrations.

We are very pleased to present Turn the Page Takes Over the Museum!, a 32-page zine gathering the young people’s brilliant creations! This collection contains snapshots of daily life, what happens when bees do battle, and many, many cats…
