About Us

Comics Youth SCIO is a lived experience led organisation – as young people we struggled with mental ill-health and tackled issues such as chronic illness, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. We use our platform as an organisation to give young people ownership of their own narratives, and our work focuses on building resilience, mental wellbeing and literacy through creativity and comic-making. It’s vitally important for young people to see themselves represented, and it is our mission to amplify their voices as much as possible.

We are an offshoot of Comics Youth CIC, who have been delivering this kind of work since 2015 in Merseyside and the surrounding area. Comics Youth SCIO is an expansion of this work into Scotland, focussing on Tayside.
